BHRS is an in home and community service for children/adolescents with behavioral problems, emotional disturbances, or mental illness. The service is offered for children/adolescents who require more than outpatient services and as an alternative to more restrictive treatment. Those eligible must be 21 years of age or younger. The amount of service provided per consumer is determined by a psychiatric/psychological evaluation and subsequent Interagency Service Planning Team (ISPT) meeting that determines the number of hours necessary. The continued need for BHRS services and the amount is re-evaluated every four months.
Chestnut Ridge currently provides the psychiatric / psychological evaluation component for BHRS services to be initiated or for the 4 month re-evaluations. The evaluator will meet with the child and parents to address the major problem areas identified by those involved in the care of the child. A history of services and behaviors will be gathered. After gathering all the needed information from the child, family, other service providers, including schools, the evaluator will make a treatment recommendation for the appropriate level of care. CRCSI evaluators will provide families with a list of agencies in the county that provide BHRS services.
The evaluations are conducted at our 100 New Salem Road site in the Fayette County Health Center Building. For more information please call 724-437-0729.
