New Directions provides a unique combination of specialized mental health treatment and comprehensive educational services.
New Directions is the only licensed partial hospitalization program in Fayette County as well as a Private Academic School. The purpose of New Directions is to offer a comprehensive mental health treatment program to children and adolescents that have moderate to severe symptoms manifested as problems with home, community and school adjustments.
The target objectives for New Directions are to treat the underlying mental health conditions, to assist the child/adolescent to cope with problems more successfully and learn to demonstrate more age-appropriate, pro-social and rewarding behaviors. The ultimate goal is for the child to be able to successfully re-enter the traditional public school setting, be productive in their communities, and well-adjusted in their families.
Mental Health Services Offered
New Directions offers a full array of services including Intake and Assessment, Therapeutic Service, Case Management, Psychiatric and Supervision, Discharge Planning and Emergency Services.
New Directions employs 17 therapists, 10 Pennsylvania Certified teachers, 2 Registered Nurses and 1 Child Psychiatrist—all full time.
Children are treated individually and in group therapies. Parents participate in family therapy and parenting groups. Medication management and crisis interventions are also provided. Often, the combination of services prevents hospitalization of the child.

Educational Services Offered
Educational Services are provided in full coordination with the therapeutic interventions and the educational and clinical staff functioning as one unit. New Directions offers both regular and special education. New Directions is proud to be a Pennsylvania Department of Education licensed Private Academic School.
New Directions is available to children in Fayette, Greene, Washington, Westmoreland and Somerset Counties.
