Promoting Children’s Mental Health in the Midst of an Ongoing Pandemic

Dr. Maneta, Medical Director at New Directions, discusses children’s mental heath during the Coronavirus.

About The Program

New Directions is a year round program that provides a unique combination of specialized mental health treatment and comprehensive educational services.  New Directions is the only licensed partial hospitalization program in Fayette County as well as a Private Academic School.  The purpose of New Directions is to offer a comprehensive mental health treatment program for children and adolescents. The program addresses moderate to severe symptoms.

Services Offered

Mental Health

New Directions is a year round program that offers a full array of services including Intake and Assessment, Therapeutic Services, Psychiatric Evaluations, Medication Management, Individual Therapy, Group Therapy, Family Therapy, and Discharge Planning.  Services are provided by Therapists, PA Certified Teachers, Nurses, and a Child Psychiatrist.

Educational

Educational Services are provided in full coordination with the therapeutic interventions and the educational and clinical staff functioning as one unit.  New Directions offers both regular and special education.  New Directions is a PA Department of Education licensed Private Academic School.

STEM Room and Makerspace

A Makerspace room is a place where young students have an opportunity to explore their own interests; learn to use materials to develop creative projects.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) removes limitations and replaces them with wonder, critique, inquiry, and innovation. The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, participate in problem-solving, collaborate with others, and work through their creative process.
