About The Program

Chestnut Ridge’s Peer Support Program instills hope in individuals that recovery is not only possible, but probable. With the assistance of Certified Peer Specialists, consumers can obtain the goals they themselves have established. The Peer Support Program is centered on the recovery goals identified by the consumer and incorporated into the Individual Service Plan following the completion of a strength based assessment.

The consumer is given the opportunity to participate in and make decisions pertaining to their services. The philosophy of peer support is that services are person-centered with a recovery focus and is a tool to facilitate the development of self-help skills. Individual advocacy, crisis management support and skills training are some of the services included.
